We're so lucky to live near the Pembrokeshire coast, and love the springtime when everything is bursting into life. It's a real treat when we catch our first glimpse of the Sea Pinks also known as Thrift. These rugged little plants thrive perched atop dramatic cliffs, so are well suited to the Pembrokeshire coastline. Their wonderful bright cheery pink flowers can be seen from March until the end of September. In Welsh it is called clustog fair, Mary's pillow.
During the year of the Queen’s Golden Jubilee, Plantlife International asked people of the UK to vote for a flower which they thought would best represent their county. In 2004 the Sea Pink was voted the county flower of Pembrokeshire, and we think it's the perfect inspiration for our Tyddewi floor rug for April 2021.
These traditional floor rugs are woven at the mill on our Dobcross looms that were designed in the 1800s. We use 100% British Wool which is an amazing natural fibre that has many characteristics making it ideal for rugs. As well as being soft to walk on, these rugs are machine washable and long-lasting, making them both practical and stylish. They are ideal for hard floors such as wood or stone and we suggest using an anti slip underlay to prevent the rug moving and provide further cushioning. They all have hand finished fringes on both ends and are fully reversible. This design will add warmth and comfort to any room, traditional or contemporary.
This rug is woven using a blend of greens, a soft brown and a hint of pink.
