The width of runner is approx 66cm (26inches) which will fit most standard staircases and is priced per metre (supplied in half metre increments). To determine the width of runner you need, measure the width of the staircase. It may be different widths over the different steps if it goes around corners or has landings. There is no right amount of space to have either side of the runner although if you are considering fitting stair rods you will need to allow at least 5-7cm of clear area.
