In the late 1950s Eric (son-in-law of Tom Griffiths who built the mill) noticed that many of his customers were using his traditional welsh blankets (carthens) as rugs for the floor. The mill having a long tradition of weaving runners and carpets, he decided there may be a market to adapt the pattern of the bedspreads and weave this as a floor rug using more suitable yarn. This pattern is synonymous with Welsh history and symbolises traditional skills handed through the generations of weavers. It has proved one of our most popular designs adding a beautiful Welsh accent to any room. They also make ideal wedding gifts and new home presents.
